Biography

At the beginning of the 1994-95 season, Steve McManaman signed a new contract with boyhood club Liverpool and was given a more central role. The position change proved pivotal in the 1995 League Cup Final, where McManaman turned in a man of the match performance against Bolton Wanderers. He opened the scoring in the 37th minute after beating three players and added a second with another mazy run 30 minutes later. Liverpool ran out 2-1 winners in what was dubbed “The McManaman Final” by fans.
